MINNEAPOLIS — Gov. Tim Walz issued an executive order on Monday, Sept. 8, to “safeguard” vaccine access in Minnesota.

The executive order directs Minnesota’s state epidemiologist to issue a standing order for the COVID-19 vaccine, as well as the Minnesota Department of Health to expand efforts to safeguard vaccine access in Minnesota.

The order is in response to “federal actions restricting vaccine availability at the federal level,” according to the Monday news release from Walz.

“Vaccines are one of the greatest public health achievements in modern medicine,” he said. “While the Trump Administration attempts to limit Americans’ access to preventative care, Minnesota will be guided by science and medical expertise, prioritizing the health and safety of our people.”
