ENUMCLAW, Wash. — On Monday, Gov. Bob Ferguson announced a tentative date range during which the state is hoping to reopen the White River Bridge : Between Oct. 31 and Nov. 15.

The White River Bridge has been closed since Aug. 18, when a semi-truck ran into it and heavily damaged the structure. The bridge is a crucial link over the White River. Without it, the detour can add more than an hour to travel time.

Ferguson provided a caveat that the reopening date may shift if the weather stops the construction work or if materials cannot be delivered in time.

Washington Secretary of Transportation Julie Meredith said an emergency contract crew will begin work as soon as Sept. 15. Crews will be at work on the bridge seven days a week until repairs are complete.
