A primary school was placed into lockdown following a nearby 'rampage'.

Armed police were called to the scene in Staffordshire after a group were seen carrying baseball bats and a jack started smashing up cars.

It is believed they pulled up in vehicles in Chell Heath Road before going on the rampage at around 2.30pm on Monday, September 8.

Amid the violence, Burnwood Community Primary School was placed in lockdown 'as a precaution' to protect the pupils and staff.

Photos from the scene show at least two vehicles have had their windows smashed in with glass left on the road, StokeonTrentLive reports.

No one is thought to have been arrested in relation to the incident.
