SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio police shot and hit a teenager who came at officers with a knife as they were responding to a south-side neighborhood Monday morning, authorities say.

The unidentified teen was hospitalized for his injuries after he was struck in the shoulder and thigh; he's believed to be in stable condition.

Officers were dispatched to the 300 block of West Dickson Avenue, near Southwest Military Drive, around 9:30 a.m. for a report that a 16-year-old boy was possibly hurting himself inside a home with a knife. SAPD Chief William McManus said the officers remained outside the home as the situation was developing.

"The individual came out the door and started walking towards the officer with two knives in his hand," McManus said.
