Average house prices continued to fall last month in Waterloo Region, a sign the market is stabilizing, the local realtors’ association says.

August sales statistics from the Cornerstone Association of Realtors show the average price for all residential properties in the region last month was $728,465, a 5.5 per cent year-over-year drop and a one per cent decline from July’s results.

The average sale price of a detached home stood at $846,405, down 4.6 per cent from August 2024 and a drop of 1.3 per cent compared to July.

Semis sold for an average of $618,206, a 5.5 per cent decrease from a year ago, and a 4.1 per cent decrease compared to July. Townhomes sold for an average price of $594,200, down 3.2 per cent from August 2024 and down 1.7 per cent from July.
