When Zony Mash brewery in New Orleans shuttered this spring , King Cake Hub — a pop-up market that sells cakes from various local bakeries during the Mardi Gras season — lost its home.
For the last four Carnival seasons, the vendor operated out of the converted cinema, selling king cakes alongside festive accessories. Locals were left wondering if it would return next Mardi Gras.
On Saturday, King Cake Hub gave an answer in a playful Facebook post: “King Cake Hub is sniffing around for a new location for this Mardi Gras season.
The post — featuring a cartoon Basset Hound with its snout pointed toward a glowing king cake on a kitchen counter — said the pop-up is searching for a 2,000-square-foot space with spacious storage and parking.
“Looking for just the right space so we can keep
