The Baltimore County redistricting process is coming down to the wire.
The county is expanding from the current seven districts to nine. The redistricting commission’s plan included four minority- majority districts- but the map released last week cut it to two.
Veronica Dunlap, deputy executive director of the American Civil Liberties Union of Maryland, said that amounts to racial gerrymandering.
“Adopt a lawful, inclusive map, or face a costly legal challenge, the cost of which the taxpayers of Baltimore County, including myself, will have to bear,” Dunlap said.

Community groups have rallied outside council chambers demanding greater transparency in the redistricting process.
The next public hearing is set for Tue
