ALLEGHANY COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ) - The Alleghany County Sheriff’s Office and the Covington Division of Police announced a new safety program for senior citizens called Alleghany Safe & Sound.

The program will be similar to programs throughout the United States and is set to begin soon throughout the Alleghany Highlands and City of Covington, according to the Alleghany County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office explained how the program will work,

STEP #1 – If you are a Senior Citizen who lives alone, has a lack of social contact with friends and family or you may have health challenges that can limit those contacts, then you should go to https://alleghanycountysheriff.com and complete the form and either drop it off or mail it to us at 268 W.
