BLOOMINGTON, Ind — Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita is taking aim at an organization that provides services to refugees and other immigrants based in Monroe County.

In a press release, the attorney general announced he issued a civil investigative demand, or "CID," to the Exodus Refugee Center in Bloomington. A CID is not a criminal charge, it is a way to gather information ahead of a civil legal case.

"An investigative demand is not an accusation of wrongdoing,” Rokita emphasized. “Our focus is on uncovering facts and rooting out potential wrongdoing."

According to the attorney general's release, ICE claims it faced "numerous challenges" in Monroe County "as a result of what may have been a coordinated effort by entities in Bloomington to help illegal aliens evade apprehension."
