LUDLOW, Vt. (WCAX) - Two summers have passed since devastating July floods ripped through Ludlow, but the images are something locals won’t forget anytime soon.
“The river’s right over there, and coming down the river, it was just a thundering torrent. We had to tie our dock in place to keep from losing it,” said Lisa Hamm-Greenawalt, who lives on the banks of Lake Rescue outside Ludlow’s downtown.
She recalls not only the day of the flood, but the weeks of cleanup that came with it.
“Worrying about mold and mud and everything like that. So, half the community was flooded, the other half was helping the people who were flooded, cleaning out,” Hamm-Greenawalt said.
An organization in the town is now looking ahead, preparing for the next big flood.
