A Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Special Enforcement Bureau team took an armed, barricaded suspect into custody Monday after a nearly four-hour standoff that prompted evacuations in Norwalk.

The SEB deputies were dispatched at 9:34 a.m. to the 12000 block of Cedarvale Street “to assist (the) Norwalk Station with a barricaded armed suspect,” according to a statement from the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.

SEB personnel took command of the situation,and a crisis negotiation team was brought in to speak with the suspect.

Surrounding homes were evacuated as a precaution.
