Victoria council is unanimously on board to offer BreakOut West Music Festival the Victoria Conference Centre for three days in September 2026.

The multi-genre, multi-venue festival is the largest music industry event in Western Canada and includes a business development conference. It features over 50 Western Canadian artists alongside select national and international artists, with each artist performing twice at the festival.

Matt Dell, who brought the proposal to council, said the festival amplifies local talent and feeds artists into the Junos.

"The Junos are out of reach for many smaller artists, so BreakOut West really gives them an opportunity to shine," Dell told Victoria News.
