WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) - Health officials are reminding people to take precautions against mosquito bites after someone recently tested positive for the mosquito-borne West Nile virus.
The Trumbull County Combined Health District is encouraging people to take steps to protect themselves from mosquito bites.
Erin Heckman is the Director of Nursing for the Health District. She says the only thing known about the patient is that they live in Trumbull County.
"Their symptoms were severe enough to warrant testing," Heckman said.
According to the Ohio Department of Health, 80% of people who contract West Nile Virus are asymptomatic. Mild symptoms include fever, body aches, and vomiting.
"It mimics a lot of other diseases, unfortunately, so very similar signs and symptoms," Heckman said. Earl
