‘Task’ complete: N.J.’s Tom Pelphrey is a Delco dazzler in series from ‘Mare of Easttown’ creator

Robbie Prendergrast is a father, brother, uncle and garbage collector.

Tom Brandis is a father, widower, FBI agent and former priest.

And “ Task ” is another engrossing Delco drama from Pennsylvania storyteller Brad Ingelsby , creator of the 2021 Emmy-winning show “ Mare of Easttown. ”

The new HBO limited series , starring New Jersey’s Tom Pelphrey and Emmy winner Mark Ruffalo , follows the lives of two men who have lost the people closest to them. Over the course of seven episodes, Pelphrey and Ruffalo create portraits of people in pain. Robbie and Tom are on opposite sides of the law, both trying to do right by their children, when their paths collide.

Like Ingelsby’s “Mare,” which stars Kate Winslet as a cheesesteak-eating detective, “Task” is not just a crime drama.
