PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla., (WFLA) — Hurricanes Helene and Milton struck Tampa Bay nearly a year ago.
Since then, the community has learned a lot, and on Monday, Congresswoman Kathy Castor held a roundtable to discuss some of the key takeaways and future steps.
Hurricane survivors from Riviera Bay and Shore Acres showed up to the roundtable to share their stories. They said people are still struggling to get back into their homes, not just from last year's hurricanes, but from storms even before that.
Residents in Pinellas County said they live with the water, and with that comes a lot of damage during hurricane season.
