NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Smile as you drive through the City of Mt. Juliet, because you’re on camera.
It’s one of the safest cities in Tennessee, and the Mt. Juliet Police Department (MJPD) says they intend to keep it that way. One way they plan to do so is through surveillance cameras.
“Every day we get notifications from them on when they locate someone, even from someone out of another city,” Sheila Sloan said.
So far this year, MJPD says they’ve apprehended 574 people wanted with an active warrant. And 90% were not Mt. Juliet residents.
Police say their license plate readers and surveillance cameras prevent those wanted for crimes from passing through the city unnoticed.
