OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Work is expected to begin soon on the sinkhole in an alley between Farnam and Harney, on 16th St. The sinkhole appeared in January, and repairs are expected to take up to 15 weeks.

Business owners in the area tell us they’re concerned about how street closures and limited parking due to the project could affect their businesses, after what they say, has already been a difficult year.

“That sinkhole has a lot of affect on a lot of people, you know? It’s not only for our businesses but for all the businesses down here,” said Richard Avila II, co-owner of Exclusive Kicks on 15th and Farnam.

It’s been nine months since the sinkhole appeared in an alley near 16th and Farnam. A garbage truck fell into it, leaving the alley inaccessible from the east side.
