SUMTER COUNTY, S.C. (WIS) - The Sumter County School Board is holding its regularly scheduled meeting, where it plans to discuss potential changes to the district’s school attendance lines.
A community meeting was held last week where county residents were able to ask school board members about the potential changes, which the board initially approved in May.
Organizers say that they want the attendance lines to be balanced to potentially prevent the closure of rural schools in Sumter, two of which were closed in 2018.
However, the rezoning could potentially take a back seat after the board decided to relaunch its master planning committee in August, which some board members, like Phil Leventis, are in favor of.
