COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) - Texas A&M’s edge rusher Cashius Howell was named SEC Defensive Line Player of the Week after the Aggies’ win over Utah State.
Howell notched three sacks in consecutive plays in the second quarter pushing Utah State back 21 yards. It’s the first time a player had three straight sacks since Wisconsin’s Cody Kessler accomplished it in the 2015 Holiday Bowl.
He became the first Aggie to have three sacks in a game since Edgerrin Cooper in 2023.
Howell leads a defense that is ranked No. 11 in the country in tackles for loss per game at nine.
A&M is ranked No. 16 in the AP Top 25 and prepares to face No. 8 Notre Dame Saturday Sept. 13 at 6:30 pm.
