GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - Pitt County Emergency Medical Services was recently designated as a continuing education institution by the state.

Investing in a teaching institution means local first responders can continue to receive training from EMS, further strengthening the quality of pre-hospital care for Pitt County residents.

“Obtaining our teaching institution internally allows us to focus on recruiting and retaining some of the best talent we can get. We can review what we are doing well and not so well at and make educational adjustments and training for our staff,” said Jim McArthur, Pitt County Emergency Management Deputy Director.

PCEMS is to receive scheduled training sessions at no cost.

These sessions are built to strengthen and unify the county’s emergency response system,
