FOLSOM, Calif. —

Flames engulfed a residence in a Folsom neighborhood on Monday as officers responded to the report of a barricaded subject, according to the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire Department.

Reporter Andres Valle saw SWAT responding in the area as a home appeared to be fully engulfed in smoke and flames.

Scanner traffic indicates the Folsom Fire Department initially responded just before 5:30 p.m. to a report of a structure fire on River Ridge Way, a residential street off of American River Canyon Drive.

Folsom police advised residents to avoid the area, but did not provide additional details about the nature of the incident.

Sac Metro Fire said crews were taking a defensive posture and trying to keep the flames from spreading to other homes.
