GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - At Monday’s Greenville City Council meeting, officials voted 6-0 to approve an interlocal agreement with Pitt County for Animal Shelter Services.

The Greenville Police Department requested to renew an agreement with Pitt County Animal Services for shelter services for stray or lost animals.

The agreement also provides for the lease of a portion of the animal shelter property to better facilitate animal service operations, care, and adoptions.

The agreement will consolidate all Greenville and Pitt County animals into one facility to allow for much easier public access for viewing and adoptions.

The monthly costs in the proposed agreement with Pitt County Animal Services are $4,000 per month, which is $48,000 per year.
