The seven New Democrat MPs are gathering for a caucus retreat on Vancouver Island this week. The MPs will meet with community and Indigenous leaders in the Courtenay-Alberni riding before heading back to Ottawa.
"We haven't had a caucus retreat in our riding in the past," said Courtenay-Alberni MP Gord Johns. "It's a huge honour that my caucus has agreed on our invitation to come to our riding."
Caucus members will be staying at an undisclosed location in Parksville. The seven MPs are interim NDP leader Don Davies (Vancouver Kingsway), Johns, Jenny Kwan (Vancouver East), Lori Idlout (Nunavut), Heather McPherson (Edmonton Strathcona), Leah Gazan (Winnipeg Centre) and Alexandre Boulerice from Montreal (Rosemont-La Petite Patrie).
