The trial of a former pub manager accused of sexually assaulting female workers is underway in far north Western Australia.

On Tuesday Stewart Patrick Burchell faced Broome District Court charged with 15 counts of unlawfully and indecently assaulting five staff and a patron and one count of sexual penetration without consent.

It is alleged the incidents occurred between 2017 and 2023.

The alleged victims' ages ranged from 19 to the 40s.

During the prosecution's opening remarks, Gary Huggins told the court Mr Burchell, 51, had been the general manager of the Roebuck Bay Hotel in Broome and had "authority" over the women.
