Mesa Public Schools could remove 104 portable buildings from campuses by the end of 2027 as the district responds to a declining student enrollment.

Of the district’s 8.3 million square feet of building space, portables occupied approximately 640,152 square feet before 2025.

“We have a tentative plan in place and that plan is ever changing as enrollment changes,” Chief Business Officer Tyler Moore said at the Aug. 28 Governing Board study session.
