The FedEx Fall series is here, but this week's PGA Tour stop has a heavy Ryder Cup vibe.

Ten of the 12 Americans on the U.S. team for the 2025 Ryder Cup are in the field. The event is the final tune-up and team-building tournament ahead of the biennial duel against the European squad at Bethpage Black.

It might be all about USA vs. Europe in a few weeks, but it was a Canadian who shined brightest on the first day of the Procore Championship. Mackenzie Hughes fired a 9-under 63 to pace the field in Thursday's first round. He shrugged off back-to-back bogeys on Nos. 14 and 15 with a whopping 11 birdies throughout the day to enter Friday one shot clear of a tie for second between Matt McCarty and Ben Griffin.

Read below for updates, scores, highlights and more from Thursday's first round of the 2025 Procore Championship.

Ben Griffin shoots 64 to pace U.S. Ryder Cup team members on Thursday

Ben Griffin made eight birdies and 10 pars en route to a squeaky clean 64 in the opening round of the Procore Championship at Silverado Resort in Napa, California.

Griffin started hot with birdies on Nos. 2 and 3 before going nuclear on the back nine with essentially a birdie on every other hole, finishing the day in a tie for second with Matt McCarty at 8 under.

He might be set to play in his first Ryder Cup in a few weeks, but Griffin isn't playing like a rookie. Griffin's 64 was the lowest round from any of the 10 U.S. Ryder Cup team members competing at the Procore on Thursday. None of them shot over par, but only half of them finished the day under par.

Russell Henley wasn't far behind Griffin, carding a 7-under 65 despite making bogey on the first two holes of the day. J.J. Spaun turned in a bogey-free 67 to finish the day at 5 under, while World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler turned in a 2-under 70, ending his streak of consecutive rounds in the 60s at 21. Sam Burns was the only other U.S. Ryder Cupper under par, carding a 1-under 71.

It appeared as if Justin Thomas was going to make a run at the lead after he made three straight birdies on holes 5-7 and another on No. 10, but four bogeys in his last six holes doomed him to a round of even-par 72, in a tie for 67th with four of his Ryder Cup teammates: Harris English, Patrick Cantlay, Collin Morikawa and Cameron Young, who all shot 72 as well.

Russell Henley fires 65, JJ Spaun cards 67

Two more U.S. Ryder Cup team members ended Thursday's first round in red numbers. Russell Henley signed for a 7-under 65, which included bogeys on the first two holes of the day. Meanwhile, reigning U.S. Open champ J.J. Spaun turned in a clean card with a bogey-free 67.

Henley is tied for 4th and Spaun is T-7.

Scottie Scheffler's streak of rounds in the 60s ends at 21

Scottie Scheffler signed for 2-under 70 on Thursday at the Procore Championship, ending his streak of consecutive rounds in the 60s at 21. He sits tied for 37th after the first round.

Scottie Scheffler hits 'fadeaway' pitch shot at No. 12

Just the World No. 1 doing World No. 1 things...

Scheffler is tied for 52nd at 1 under through 14 holes.

Russell Henley rolling on day one of the Procore Championship

Russell Henley bogeyed the first two holes of his first round Thursday at the Procore Championship before making birdie on eight of his next 11 holes to get to 6 under through 13. As of 7;15 p.m. ET, he's three off the lead, held by Mackenzie Hughes, who fired a 63 early Thursday.

Henley is another one of the U.S. Ryder Cup team members getting some "practice" in at the Procore, and so far he's looking like he's in midseason form.

Justin Thomas rattles off three straight birdies to kickstart his round

After four pars in a row to start the day, Justin Thomas made three consecutive birdies on holes 5-7 to get to 3 under for the tournament as of 6:10 p.m. ET.

Scottie Scheffler posts 34 on the front nine at the Procore Championship

World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler is one of the 10 U.S. Ryder Cup team members competing in Napa this week and he's begun to catch fire after getting off to a slow start. Scheffler was 1 over through six holes after a bogey on No. 4 but managed to make back-to-back birdies on Nos. 7 and 8 to get back into red numbers.

He's 1 under as he heads to the back nine.

JJ Spaun off to a hot start at the Procore Championship

The U.S. Open Champion appears to be in great form with two weeks until the Ryder Cup, at least so far. J.J. Spaun is 4 under through 8 holes Thursday at the Procore Championship, which included a dart to two feet for birdie on No. 8.

U.S. Ryder Cup team gets their day underway at the Procore Championship

Ten of the 12 U.S. Ryder Cup team members are in the field at the Procore Championship, which is serving as a de facto "training camp" for the international grudge match, which takes place in two weeks at Bethpage Black in New York.

Scottie Scheffler, J.J. Spaun, Russell Henley, Harris English, Collin Morikawa, Sam Burns, Patrick Cantlay, Cameron Young, Ben Griffin and Justin Thomas are teeing it up in Napa this week. Bryson DeChambeau is barred from competing as a member of LIV, while Xander Schauffele is at home with his newborn baby boy.

Mackenzie Hughes still leads as afternoon groups get started

The late groups are starting their opening rounds at the Procore Championship and they're all chasing Mackenzie Hughes, who fired a blistering 9-under 63 Thursday to take an early lead. The 34-year-old Canadian stumbled with back-to-back bogeys on Nos. 14 and 15 but offset those blunders with a whopping 11 birdies.

Hughes qualified for the FedEx Cup Playoffs but didn't make it past the first stage, finishing 65th in the standings. He's seeking the third PGA Tour victory of his career and his first since the 2022 Sanderson Farms Championship.

Mackenzie Hughes fires 29 on front nine

It hasn't taken long for Mackenzie Hughes to warm up on Thursday, as he posted birdies on five of his first nine holes, posting a 29 at the turn and taking the lead at the Procore.

Rough start for Taylor Moore

Coming into Napa, Taylor Moore was the new bubble boy, sitting at exactly 100 on the FedEx Cup standings.

His start at Silverado isn't helping him work toward a full card for next season.

Moore shot a 7-over 42 on the front, with two double-bogeys contributing to the rough start. The native of Texas has one victory on Tour at the 2023 Valspar Championship.

Amateur Jackson Koivun shining at Procore

Jackson Koivun, who's set to begin his third season at Auburn this fall after making it to the Round of 32 of the 2025 U.S. Amateur, has had a pretty great summer. He was named the winner of the Mark H. McCormack medal, which is given to the leading male player in the 2025 World Amateur Golf Ranking, and he helped the U.S. win the Walker Cup.

He already has exemptions into the 2026 U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills and the 2026 Open Championship at Royal Birkdale in England, provided he remains amateur.

But Koivun is off to a great start at the Procore, pairing a half-dozen birdies with a pair of bogeys through his first 12 holes to sit at 4 under.

Hole locations for Round 1

Here are the hole locations for Thursday:

What is the FedEx Cup Fall on the PGA Tour?

There are seven fall tournaments on the PGA Tour. Most of them will be for those who finished 51st or higher to continue to improve their status for 2026.

Who's playing in the 2025 Procore Championship?

The field of 144 has a slew of notable names but the 10 that stand out are those Ryder Cuppers on the U.S. team, led by world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler.

Xander Schauffele not playing in Procore Championship

After much discussion about Team USA's lack of preparation entering the beatdown they suffered at the 2023 Ryder Cup, the pressure was on Captain Keegan Bradley to change something up. That's why he said his 12-man team would be gathering at the Procore Championship for a final tune-up of sorts. The 12th American, Bryson DeChambeau, is not eligible because of his membership on LIV Golf.

Xander Schauffele is also not on site, but it's for a good reason, his wife just gave birth to the couple's first child.
