MORGAN COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) — The Morgan County Sheriff's Office said four people were arrested after an investigation into a multi-level drug trafficking organization.

MCSO said on September 7, agents with MCSO's Drug Enforcement Unit, North Alabama Drug Task Force and Alabama Drug Enforcement Task Force- Region F, conducted a drug operation at a hotel near Beltine Road and 6th Avenue in Decatur.

The sheriff's office said the operation was a weeks-long investigation that successfully dismantled a multi-level drug trafficking organization with direct ties to Mexico, Atlanta, and other States within the United States. Agents identified several local individuals working on behalf of the organization to smuggle and distribute narcotics across North Alabama.
