CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A juvenile is accused of being responsible for threats against a Charlotte-area private school after authorities investigated a social media post targeting Hickory Christian Academy.

The Hickory Police Department began investigating the threat on Sunday, Sept. 7, after school staff alerted officers to a possible social media threat that mentioned the academy.

Working in cooperation with Hickory Christian Academy staff, police investigators quickly identified the juvenile responsible for making the threat. On Tuesday, Sept. 9, a juvenile petition was issued through the North Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice for felony communication of a threat of mass violence on educational property.
