NEW BEDFORD — A Vineyard Wind offshore supply vessel spilled an estimated 216 gallons of marine diesel fuel into New Bedford Harbor during the evening of Sept. 9, according to the U.S. Coast Guard .

The discharge was secured, and containment booms and absorbent pads were deployed to contain and recover the fuel, according to the Coast Guard, which responded to the spill. A floating barrier was also placed around the vessel to contain the fuel.

Frank Corp. Environmental Services of New Bedford is conducting cleanup operations within the harbor.
