PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- The United States Coast Guard is responding after a WW2-era yacht sank near Bremerton, Washington.

According to the USCG, a command was set up, also including the Washington Department of Ecology and the Washington Department of Natural Resources, after the 108-foot ship sank in the Sinclair Inlet.

Officials said they first received reports on Sunday afternoon that the ship, a wooden hull WW2-era yacht, was sinking.

To mitigate environmental impacts and raise the ship, officials said they accessed the Oil Spill Liability Trust Fund and also contacted an oil spill response company.

The Coast Guard said that 2,600 feet of boom was deployed, and divers have already plugged fuel vents to reduce any potential discharge.
