HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) - The Vanderburgh County Board of Commissioners issued a declaration banning open burns effective immediately.

According to a release, the burn ban will last for seven days or until it is rescinded. No person will be allowed to start a fire or allow an open fire to continue unless they have obtained a written permit from the commanding office of the fire department. Any person deemed guilty of a violation of the burn ban faces a fine of up to $500.
