Juliana “Goose” Hutchens, arguably the nation’s top softball prospect in the Class of 2027 recruiting class, committed Thursday to play at Oklahoma.
Hutchens is a junior at Wagoner High School. She tied an Oklahoma High School record with 23 home runs as a sophomore. She will play for USA Softball’s U-18 national team later this month at the World Cup.
On Tuesday, OU coach Patty Gasso and Texas Tech coach Gerry Glasco attended Wagoner’s game against Checotah.
Hutchens has been known as “Goose” since playing on her travel softball team “Tulsa Elite” when she shared her name with another player. It’s a nickname her father Johnny gave her.
She’s a strong left-handed hitter who can play every position except pitcher. She was the anchor of the Oklahoma team which won the 2021 Little League
