KINGSTON, N.Y.— For the first time in Ulster County, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security has subpoenaed the election record of a specific individual, Republican Board of Elections Commissioner John Quigley said on Thursday.

“I wouldn’t call it unusual, but I also wouldn’t call it routine. It’s the first time it’s happened to us here in Ulster,” Quigley said during a phone interview.

In a subpoena dated Sept. 4, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) requested all “voter information” related to an Ellenville resident. The subpoena was provided to the Freeman by the Board of Elections in response to a state Freedom of Information request. The subject’s name was redacted by the Board of Elections at 79 Hurley Ave. in Kingston.
