NEW ORLEANS — The New Orleans Fire Department says it has launched an administrative review after being made aware of what it calls an “insensitive comment” made by one of its employees.
In a statement released Thursday, Fire Superintendent Roman J. Nelson called the conduct “unacceptable,” stressing that it does not reflect the department’s values, standards, or mission.
“The men and women of the NOFD are entrusted with the responsibility of serving and protecting all members of our community with professionalism, integrity, and respect,” Nelson said. “Any actions or words that undermine that trust, or that promote division or insensitivity, are taken very seriously.”
