Enrollment remained level across South Dakota’s public university system this fall at 36,901 compared with last fall, according to data released by the South Dakota Board of Regents on Sept. 11.

The SDBOR called this “steady” enrollment, and “positive given the already strong base of last fall’s enrollment.”

Yet, full-time equivalent enrollment and student credit hours saw an increase from last fall from 25,529 to 25,558 this year, a growth of 29 students or about 0.11%.

SDBOR leaders said this marked the fourth consecutive year of “targeted system growth,” and the second year in a row with more than 36,000 students across the system, “a notable benchmark in the face of national challenges in higher education,” it said in a release.
