The B.C. Green Party says it has the capacity to verify all new membership applications received by people seeking to vote in the leadership race, which would enable all new, eligible members to vote before the end of the contest on Sept. 22.
Leadership candidate Emily Lowan had raised concerns about the verification process for new members, calling it "unnecessary, discriminatory, prejudicial and unfair" in a letter to the party from her legal representative.
To be able to vote, membership applications had to be received by Aug. 10. Several thousand people have applied for membership, and Lowan had expressly promised to sign up as many as possible.
