At 5:42 p.m. on Thursday, the National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning in effect until 6:45 p.m. for Union and Wallowa counties.
The storms are foreseen to bring walnut-sized hail (1.5 inches).
"At 5:41 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was located 11 miles northeast of Minam, or 25 miles northwest of Enterprise, moving northwest at 10 mph," according to the weather service. "People and animals outdoors will be injured. Expect damage to roofs, siding, windows, and vehicles."
The weather service states, "For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. Large hail, damaging wind, and continuous cloud to ground lightning are occurring with this storm. Move indoors immediately. Lightning is one of nature's leading killers. Remember, if you can h
