BUFFALO, N.Y. — Memorial services were held for the 24th Anniversary of the 9/11 attacks all across the country, including right here in Western New York.

Hundreds gathered for the anniversary remembrance event at the Buffalo Naval and Military Park, and 2 On Your Side was there.

That service included a particular guest speaker who shared his military memories of 9/11.

Speaking at the service in the hangar of the Naval Park was a ranking member of the U.S. Navy who has proud ties to Western New York.

Rear Admiral Robert Wirth is a Grand Island native who has gone on to become a commander of a fleet of Navy nuclear submarines based in King's Bay, Georgia.
