SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) - Bushhogs are an essential part of land care and maintenance across the Ozarks, but for a local farmer, they caused his fields to go up in flames.
On Tuesday, Douglas Christlieb, the fire chief of the Nebo-Falcon Fire Protection District, received a call about a brushfire at his own property. His son, Robert Christlieb, was operating the bushhog when it ran over a medium-sized rock on the property.
“I was bushhogging, and I hit a rock, and instead of stopping, I kept going. I went around the property, and when I came back, it had already engulfed the field”, he said.
