SOUTH SIOUX CITY, Neb. (KTIV) - 24 years ago, America was devastated by the terrorist attacks that claimed the lives of more than 3,000 people.

After almost a quarter of a century, people have still not forgotten all those lost.

Thursday night, their memories were honored with a special ceremony at Siouxland Freedom Park in South Sioux City.

During the ceremony, leaders walked through the horrific timeline of the day and how everything changed in America.

Many gathered to witness the ceremony and to pay respect to all those impacted that day.

They also rang the “4-5” bells to honor the firefighters who lost their lives on 9/11.

Organizers hope that holding ceremonies like this will help remind Americans that they need to continue to come together.
