We are more than two months removed from July 4 celebrations, but the Toledo Mud Hens provided the home fans at Fifth Third Field with some fireworks on Thursday.

The hosts built a significant lead through the first two innings and came away with an 11-4 victory over the Louisville Bats.

Toledo (77-64) belted out 18 hits to Louisville’s seven.

On the mound, Mud Hens starting pitcher Jordan Balazovic struck out five of the first six batters he faced.

The Hens put up a six-run bottom of the first inning. The first three batters singled to load the bases, and Eduardo Valencia’s bases-loaded walk made it 1-0.

Jace Jung followed with a two-run single, then after a strikeout, Gage Workman smacked a two-run triple to center field for a 5-0 advantage.
