PENSACOLA, Fla. (WKRG) — A Pensacola man has been indicted on a charge involving possession of a firearm.

According to a release from the U.S. Attorney's Office, Northern District of Florida, a jury indicted Jerney Jabara Purifoy, 33, for firearm possession by a convicted felon on Sept. 8.

Purifoy could serve up to 15 years in prison if he is convicted. His trial is set for Oct. 20.

Assistant United States Attorney Jessica S. Etherton prosecuted the case, while the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives investigated, the release said.

This case is part of Operation Take Back America, an initiative to rid communities of firearms, drugs, and crime.
