OMAHA, Neb. —

Nebraskans gathered at Omaha's Memorial Park to honor Charlie Kirk and remember loved ones lost during the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

There were nearly 3,000 American flags lining the hill of the park, representing each life lost on 9/11.

Throughout the day, people stopped to pay their respects, some reading the names of strangers, while others, like Barb Menning and her husband, left flowers for family members killed in the attacks.

"Jim was on the 92nd floor in the North Tower," Menning said, referring to her nephew.

She shared the emotional journey of trying to find out if there was any hope of him being alive.
