RIPLEY, W.Va. (WSAZ) – The city of Ripley honored first responders with an event everyone could enjoy.

The city hosted a heroes’ parade, highlighting the efforts and heroics of its first responders and remembering the responders of the 9/11 attacks.

The parade featured a lineup of vehicles ranging from police cars, firetrucks, and ambulances.

“It’s just incredible to help people to be able to serve in our communities, and we’re serving the people we work beside during the day,” said Ripley VFD firefighter Peter Coffey. “We go to the McDonald’s, we go to the part store. We see those folks, and we may see them later in one of the worst moments of their life and be able to comfort them and be able to help them. It’s just incredible.”
