KANSAS CITY, Mo. —

A speech language pathologist, math teacher, drama teacher, physical education teacher and substitute teacher have all been charged with child sex crimes within the past nine months.

The crimes involve sexual assault, child pornography, provocative physical contact and sexual abuse materials. Advertisement

All of these teachers once went through a mandatory background check.

"You do need to keep in mind, a background check isn't going to catch everything. I mean, not everything is reported as a crime that might go into a criminal database. It may be an incident may have just happened and they were simply let go," Darren Walrod, ACS Data Search owner, said.
