Pledges to donate council payments and ensuring the City of Fremantle is not “funding genocide” are among the pitches from candidates seeking election next month.

This year’s election will also see the number of council positions reduced from 11 to nine as part of State Government reforms.

Most eyes will be on the battle for the city’s top job, with current mayor Hannah Fitzhardinge seeking a second term in a field of five, which includes two current councillors and a former member.

Current deputy mayor Jenny Archibald and current councillor Ben Lawver have nominated, as has former councillor Marija Vujcic. Mark Woodcock is the fifth candidate.

Ms Fitzhardinge says she “could hit the ground running.”
