COLUMBUS, Ohio—John Kulewicz, a retired attorney and suburban Columbus city council member, has filed paperwork to join the Democratic race for Ohio attorney general in 2026.

Kulewicz is the third candidate, after Democratic ex-state Rep. Elliot Forhan of South Euclid and Republican state Auditor Keith Faber of Mercer County, to run next year for attorney general.

The office will be open, as incumbent Attorney General Dave Yost, a Columbus Republican, is term-limited.

A partner in the prestigious Columbus law firm of Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease until he retired last year, Kulewicz has argued cases before the U.S. Supreme Court and the Ohio Supreme Court, among others. He’s currently serving his second four-year term on Upper Arlington City Council.
