ISLAMORADA, Fla. (WFLA) -- Mahi-Mahi, dolphin, or dorado fish, whatever you call them, most agree they are a fun fish to catch and a delicious one to eat as well! They are a fish that are targeted almost year-round in the Florida Keys.
Amanda Holly got the chance to fish with world-renowned fisherman George Poveromo. They were in Islamorada, where they spent the day trolling and following flocks of birds to catch mahi-mahi.
George has been fishing these waters his whole life and knows what to look for. Trolling by patches of sea grass, any floating debris, and flocks of birds will give you the best chance to find them.
The bite can turn on quickly, and it can be tough to keep them around the boat because they are always on the move. When the bite is on, though, it is so fun!
