TULARE, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – In downtown Tulare, one restaurant is offering its customers a taste of adventure without ever leaving the ground.

"The Flying Taco" is a restaurant located inside a 74-foot-long Convair 240 airplane parked on L Street. The unique dining experience began over two decades ago as Aero Dogs, a hot dog stand founded by Don LeBaron and his business partners.

“We found this Convair 240 at 74 feet long, nine feet wide. We brought it here, parked it in a lot, and opened up a dog stand called Aero Dogs,” LeBaron said. • Screenshot • Screenshot

What started as a bold experiment quickly became a local landmark. Don and Ann Chandler say their children were captivated by the opportunity to eat inside a real airplane.
