Remembrance ceremonies have been held across the country, including at Penn State, where students and community members gathered to honor Kirk's memory. Kirk was widely known for visiting college campuses across the nation and challenging students on their political beliefs in debates.
"I saw the video in class, it was just crazy to think that this could be it for him," Penn State freshman Isaac St. Clair said.
